October Wrap up/November TBR

Hello everyone,

We are currently in the month of November, and I was suppose to do this a few days ago, but I got busy. It was still a pretty good reading month despite how busy I was, but I still read what I needed to read. So lets recap.

While everyone else was reading Empire of Storms, I was a little behind and was reading Queen of Shadows. Here is my review. I gave it 4/5.

This was a book, that I kept saying, why did it take me long to read this. I loved how unconventional the book was. Mainly told through chats, and security and I loved every page of it. Here is my review. I gave it 5/5

WWW Wednesday: Oct 19th 2016

Welcome to WWW Wednesday which is currently being hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. It’s really just a place to do little update on what all you’ve been reading lately. Anyone is welcome to join, just leave a link to your post in the comments and be sure to give the appropriate credit to Sam.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I read This Savage Song, really liked it so I am also reading V.E. Schwab other books as well.

What did you recently finish?

It was on my TBR, I really liked it. Sort of like a lite version of Game of Thrones with a lot of political intrigue. I will post the review later this week.

Really liked this one, a good conclusion to one my favorite trilogies. Here is my review for the book.

What did you think you’ll read next?

I have heard nothing but good things about this series, and most of my blogger friends are talking about this book, so I will most likely read this series.

Another book that was on my TBR list, just got it on my Nook and will be reading that shortly.

That is my WWW Wednesday. What books are you currently reading? What have you recently finished and what will you be reading next? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Wednesday.

The Midnight Star by Marie Lu (Spoiler free)

Summary:
Adelina Amouteru is done suffering. She’s turned her back on those who have betrayed her and achieved the ultimate revenge: victory. Her reign as the White Wolf has been a triumphant one, but with each conquest her cruelty only grows. The darkness within her has begun to spiral out of control, threatening to destroy all that she’s achieved.

Adelina’s forced to revisit old wounds when a new danger appears, putting not only Adelina at risk, but every Elite and the very world they live in. In order to save herself and preserve her empire, Adelina and her Roses must join the Daggers on a perilous quest—though this uneasy alliance may prove to be the real danger.

Bestselling author Marie Lu concludes Adelina’s story with this haunting and hypnotizing final installment to the Young Elites series.

The Review:

This book was one of my most anticipated reads, because I was a fan of the first two books and Marie Lu’s Legend trilogy. I actually really enjoyed this book and it felt like a very quick read.

The book picks up with Adelina conquering lands and imposing new rules for those lands  by giving more rights to the Malfettos, and is even willing to kill those who disobey her. You could really feel that she was going more darker and she is not the same Adelina that she was in the first book. She is seriously one of the best characters I have read. Maybe because we don’t see a lot of anti-heroes in YA and I applaud Marie Lu for creating a good anti-hero that could still be likable in a way.

I just wish that you got to see her be Queen a bit longer because about a third into the book she is forced to help the Daggers again. I liked that the Daggers were mostly playing a reactionary role to Adelina’s misdeeds. I would have liked to have seen more development with Raffeale and Enzo because I actually did like them in the series. I also really loved Adelina’s romance with Magiano. Marie Lu knows how to develop a good romance without the drama you see in other YA books.

While I did feel that the ending was very well-written, I also felt that the book should have been at least 100 more pages. Mainly because I wanted to see some loose ends tied up and it could have made for a better conclusion, rather than seeing some things wrapped up a bit too quickly (I will be going more in depth with the ending in my spoiler-filled review).

But I will say is that Marie Lu knows how to write a good sibling relationship. You could tell that Violetta was Adelina’s center and kept her human and in spite of all of the things Adelina’s has done she still really loves her sister.

In the end The Midnight Star was a good conslusion to a great trilogy, while it was a bit weaker than the other two books, I still enjoyed the series and I want to see what other books Marie Lu has to offer.

Also sorry for the vague review. I didn’t want to spoil anything. Look out this week for a spoiler filled review.

Grade: 3.8/5

Top 5 Wednesday: Books you want to read before the end of the year

For this week’s top 5 Wednesday it is Books I want to read before the end of the year.

I like doing this list because it will mix my favorite upcoming releases and books on my TBR list.

Top 5 Wednesday is a group in Goodreads and was formerly created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey and is now done by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. It is open to everyone.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Yes. As a Harry Potter fan of course I am going to read this. I will still read even though I have been slacking. I also want to read the what is hopefully the start of the Harry Potter expanded universe.

The Midnight Star by: Marie Lu

After ready the previous two books this year and loving them. As a fan of her Legend trilogy, I always loved her writing and loved the Legend trilogy and hopefully this book will be a very good conclusion to her already awesome series.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

As a huge fan of her Lunar Chronicles series, it was only telling that I would be excited about her next book. This is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland with the origin of the Queen of Hearts.

The Girl on the Train by: Paula Hawkins

As what I did with Gone Girl before that movie came out, I want to read the book. The trailer really intrigued me and I want to know happens before seeing the movie.

A Torch Against the Night by: Sabaa Tahir

The sequel of one of my favorite books that I read last year is getting a sequel. With the way the last book ended I want to know what’s gonna happen to the characters.

There’s my list. Which books do you want to read for the year? Let me know in the comments below!
