September 2018 TBR

Hello all,

Where did the summer go. I can’t believe that it is already September and almost time for fall weather.

Even though I haven’t really been keeping up with my Monthly TBRs I hope that September will be a good reading month.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I read Strange the Dreamer and I absolutely loved it. I also realized that I never read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, even though it was on my TBR for quite a while now. I plan on reading the trilogy to get me hyped for Muse of Nightmares.

Fables Book One

Image result for fables book 1

This is a graphic novel in which fairy tale live within the modern world. It reminded me of the show Grimm, which was a highly underrated show.

The Queens of Innis Lear

Image result for the queens of innis lear

I saw this at a book store and I was already intrigued by a premise in which sisters battle over a throne.

Hunting Prince Dracula

I read Stalking Jack the Ripper last year and loved it. I was very excited that a sequel was written, and I know the third book is about to come out . I really like the mystery aspect of the book, and it makes it feel like a film noir.

Fatal Throne

Image result for fatal throne

I love the aspect of this book, which is basically the wives side of the story regarding Henry VIII, which we never really hear about in the history books and hearing from people like Anna Boleyn and Jane Seymour.

Thats my TBR for the month of September. It may be subject to change, I may add a few more. What do you plan on reading in the month of September? Let me know in the comments below.

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: TBR Tag

Happy Sunday everyone.

This is another post for the Summer Blogger Promo Tour.

1. What is the Summer Blogger Promo Tour?
The Summer Blogger Promo Tour is a summer tour that we’ve put together at The Book Bratz that helps a bunch of bloggers both new and old link up with each other and collab on fun posts throughout the summer!

And for this one myself and Lili @ Utopia State of Mind

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

Lili: I put all the books I want to read on my To Read shelf on Goodreads. I know there are books I haven’t looked at from when I first started my Goodreads accounts ages ago, so I only look at the recently added ones.

Me: I usually start with Goodreads and for some of my bought books I looks at my shelf and then my Goodreads to see which books I really want to read.

  1. Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?

Lili: Print. I don’t normally prefer to read on e-book unless the price is unbeatable OR it’s an e-arc. Those are really the two reasons I’d do this.

Me: It is Print books mostly, sometimes it is an e-book

  1. A Book That’s Been On Your TBR List The Longest

Lili: This older series by Mercedes Lackey – the thousand kingdoms I think? I loved so many of Lackey’s books as a child growing up that they have this special nostalgic place in my heart.

Me: Anything by Patrick Rothfuss and Mark Lawrence. I haven’t read anything by these two authors but I keep hearing great things about them.

  1. A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR

Lili: I think I added WE HUNT THE FLAME recently, but there have been so many fantastic 2019/2020 books announced that I have gone on a TBR rampage. Save me.

Me: Crazy Rich Asians. I know that is mostly because the movie is coming out but I do sort of also want to read the book.

  1. A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because of Its Beautiful Cover

Lili: I haven’t done this recently only because I have to really go the extra effort to add the book to my TBR. So it’s normally just arcs I want to keep a track of or maybe request.

Me: A more recent example is Four Dead Queens. I remember seeing the cover at BookCon.

  1. A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading

Lili:  Psh, I would love to read all the books on my TBR! That’s what it’s there for!

Me: If it’s on my TBR, then I will read it. Hopefully eventually

  1. An Unpublished Book on Your TBR That You’re Excited For

Lili: Well I just finished SADIE and that was fabulous, but of course I’m excited for SHADOWGLASS and SPY WITH THE RED BALLOON!

Me: What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertali because I want to see what both of those authors come up with. Also Muse of Nightmares because I just finished Strange the Dreamer and loved it.

  1. A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You

Lili: Gah, a lot. I haven’t read Jenny Han or Victoria Schwab yet. So these are ones I get a lot of grief about! Or the Illuminae series – that one too. To be fair, I do now own these, so I have more of a reason to read them now!

Me: Jenny Han as well. I know Too All the Boys I Loved is coming on Netflix and it reminded me that I never even touched those books.

  1. A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You

Lili: DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC keeps getting recommended to me, by one person…but I will read it!

Me: Anything by Renee Adhieh. I even met her at BookCon and I felt so bad for not reading her books. I keep getting recommended her books, but I will read them eventually.

  1. A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read

Lili: Gosh all of them? I am most excited for KINGDOM OF THE BLAZING PHOENIX though. I Have that but I haven’t dug in yet…

Me: City of Saints and Thieves, I am still surprised that I haven’t read it yet

  1. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

Lili: I will not be answering this question. It’s too cruel.

Me: Yeah, about that. It will ever be growing that I have completely lost count.

Strange the Dreamer. Now I am hyped for Muse of Nightmares. It was so good. I loved the writing, this was the first book of Laini Taylor and I want to read more.

Furyborn, I really enjoyed. I liked the style in which its a book told through two time periods and each being such a lustful worlds in them.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I heard so many great things about this book, and I didn’t read Song of Achilles, but since I got this checked out of the library.

What did you recently finish?

Review will be coming soon. But I thought it was alright, not saying that it was bad, it just didn’t blow me away like I thought it would.

What Do You Think you’ll read next?

I bought this book back in April, and I surprisingly haven’t read it yet. I heard great things about this book and its author. Also anything with a magical school automatically makes my TBR

April TBR

Happy April, and Happy Easter for those who celebrate it.

I haven’t done a TBR in a while, and March wasn’t quite a good reading month because I got busy. So here is my TBR for April.

Obsidio by: Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

Image result for obsidio

I have waited so long for this book. I loved both Illuminae and Gemina, so I am excited to see how this series ends.

Children of Blood and Bone by: Tomi Adeyemi

Image result for children of blood and bone

This was another book I was very excited about since it was announced. I was suppose to see her in Boston, but the snow kept me going, I at least got the book personalized for me.

Wicked Like a Wildfire by: Lana Popovic

Image result for wicked like a wildfire

My girlfriend gave me this book for Valentine’s Day and I still haven’t read it. I feel bad because I got her Legend and kept asing if she has read it yet.

Hunted by: Meagan Spooner

Image result for hunted by meagan spooner

A sort of Beauty and the Beast retelling. Its a book I really wished I got to back in 2017, but it is sitting on my bookshelf.

Dove Arising by Karen Bao

Image result for dove arising

This is an underrated book that I heard some good things about. I got it from the Diversity in YA tumblr and it sounded interesting.

Those are the books on my April TBR. It may be subject to change. Which books do you plan on reading for the month of April? Let me know in the comments below.

February TBR

Happy February everyone,

Wow I can’t believe how its already February.

First currently reading:

Zenith by: Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings

Yeah, this is sort of cheating since I am about half way through the book and I am enjoying it so far.

Now for my TBR for the month of February

Odd and True By Cat Winters

This was a random pick up from by library. I will admit that it is mostly for the cover. From the premise it reminds me of a gender swapped Supernatural set in the 1800s, with two sisters fighting demons.

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton

This is for Hype or Like Friday, and I am so glad that this book was picked. I heard so many good things about this book.

Gunslinger Girl by Lyndsey Ely

I always love a good western and I always keep thinking that more YA should be based around the Old West. While it is not technically The Old West, hopefully it will have that western feel to it.

Bitch Planet Vol. 1 and 2

This was also a random pickup from my library and I heard some great things about it. I am also trying to read more graphic novels this year.

The Roanoke Girl by Amy Engel

This is a book outside of my usual genres since I don’t usually read mystery novels but the premise caught my attention and I could read a bit more mysteries.

Those are the books I plan on reading in February. What books do you plan on reading in February? Let me know in the comments below.

January 2018 TBR

Hello everyone, and hope you guys are enjoying the start of 2018. It is snowing right now in Boston, but after living here for years I just seem to roll with it.

This is my TBR for the month of January,

Dear Martin by: Nic Stone

My very lovely girlfriend gave me this book for Christmas, so she knows what I like. I think I also put it on my books I hope to read by the end of the year. Well since I didn’t have the time, this seems like a great book to start the year off.

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee

Just judging by the cover, this looks like a more bad ass version of Sailor Moon. I have heard some great things about this book. I also like the inclusion of Chinese folklore and mythology that the book has.

Long Way Down by: Jason Reynolds

This will be my second book by Jason Reynolds, the first being Miles Morales: Spider Man. The book is mainly told through poetry form which will be a welcomed change from what I usually read.

Batman: Nightwalker by: Marie Lu

One of my favorite superheroes being written by one of my favorite authors. I am really excited to read about her interpretation of Batman.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I have seen this on a lot of most anticipated lists, and with this being the first YA release of 2018, this should be a good book to start the year with. I also love stories about the fae.

Those are the books I plan to read in January, it maybe subject to change if  I discover new books. What books do you plan of reading in January? Let me know in the comments below.
