November 2018 TBR

Happy November everyone, and for my writers Happy Nanowrimo!

I haven’t done a TBR in a while, and since for the past month I have been buying a lot of books I think it is high time that I read some of them and give me my own reading schedule.

This maybe subject to change.

This maybe cheating, since I am currently reading it and I am half way through and really enjoying it so far. I love Ben and Arthur.

This author was on my TBR for such a long time, it is kinda strange that I haven’t read any of his books, especially with me being a Game of Thrones fan.

Another confession, I never read anything by Naomi Novik, and I saw this in a little book sale and I had to buy it. It looks like a Rumpelstiltskin retelling, and if you know me, you know I love my fairy tale retellings.

Yeah, yeah, I know. But if you have been following me, you know I am a Marissa Meyer fan. She is an autobuy author for me. I loved Renegades so much and I was very excited to find out that it will be a trilogy.

I know, I am late for the party, especially since Kingdom of Ash just came out, but I do enjoy most of her work. I also did a good job at avoiding spoilers for myself, so I have a clear head on.

I am finally going to break down, and read Cassandra Clare. I did read a bit of the Mortal Instruments series, but never got back to it. I did hear some good things about Lady Midnight, and it would be nice to read a series back to back without the waiting in between.

That’s me TBR for the month of November. What books do you plan on reading this month? Let me know in the comments below! I also wish the best of luck to those participating in Nanowrimo.

Nanowrimo Tag

Hello everyone,

This year I will be participating in Nanowrimo this November and I am both nervous and excited. In anticipation IO decided to do a Nanowrimo Tag that I saw on Booktube and wanted to give it a try.

This year’s Nanowrimo project is The Helsing Society: Blood Moon War. After years of relative peace between the Witches, Vampires and Werewolves. A few attacks has lead to all sides declaring war on one another. It is up to Natalia, an apprentice of the Helsing Society; a group that monitors supernatural creatures, to figure out what happened and why.

The tag was created by Seihren the Bookish Witch

1. How many years have you participated in NaNo?

-This is my second attempt at Nano. I tried last year and even wrote almost 5,000 words and then I got sick, then very busy. Cross my fingers I will suceed this year.

2. Are you a planner, pantser, or plantser?

-I feel like I am a plantser, I would start with a sort of brief outline of what I want to happen in my novel, but then sometimes I would make things up as a go along.

3. If you are a planner/plantser, what are the first story elements that you flesh out?

-Mostly the characters. I love writing about characters, their backstories, their motivations because I think characters is what makes or breaks a book for me.

4. NaNo Forums? Do you use them?

-Yes, I use some forums. It is nice to see what other projects people are working on and some tips for myself.

5. Writing Buddies? Do you prefer to write socially or alone?

-I like to write a bit socially and a bit alone. It is nice to have some writing buddies and I am on a twitter chat with some fellow Nano writers.

6. Do you diligently write 1,667 words a day, or do you write in spurts

-I write in spurts. I sometimes try to do an hour writing session and write as many words as possible.

7. Do you have a writing totem?

-I do. It is an I AM A WRITER sign that I place above my desk.

8. Do you go to kick-off, write-in, or wrap-up parties?

-Last year I didn’t go to any of the Nano parties, but this year I may go to some write-ins in the area.

9. When writing, are you an analog (handwritten) or digital writer? Does the same apply to when you’re taking notes or brainstorming?

-I have a notebook in which I consider my series “Bible” which has all of my notes with characters, locations, plot elements and worlds. But I usually type my actual manuscript.

10. Share your NaNo username (if you feel comfortable doing so) so that others can connect with you on the NaNo site!

-It is DLouis129, feel free to connect with me!

That is my Nanowrimo Tag. If you are also doing Nanowrimo let me know. I will be your cheerleader.

Hype or Like Friday: New Year’s Resolution

Happy 2018 everyone,

Here is the first Hype or Like Friday of 2018.

The Theme for January is The Fairest Year of All, and the Book of the Month is:

Hype or Like Friday is a meme created by JillianLarkin, and Britt to discuss about hyped books and see if they’re hyped up or not. There would be book of the month that you can read, and the post your review for it on the end of the month, then rate it whether it’s a hype it or like it.

January 5th – New Year’s Resolution… What are some of your reading/blogging/life/etc. goals for this year?

Read 60 books this year

Last year my goal was to read 60 books I managed to finish just in time. So I will also try to read 60 books this year, and judging by some of the releases coming out already it shouldn’t be that hard.

Finish the first draft of my novel

I have decided to try to write a book. The book’s working title is The Frontier. I would describe it as a Firefly meets Battlestar Galactica. The main premise is, Meera the daughter of the Chancellor of the United Planetary Alliance, after surviving an assassination attempt meets up Jayson, a mercenary and captain of the spaceship The Frontier. I am about 4,000 words in and I am excited of what I have so far.

Actually do my series revisted

Last year I planned on doing a series revisited, which would have started with the Hunger Games. I should be doing that soon, I am currently rereading the Hunger Games trilogy.

Review more non-bookish things

There has been times that I reviewed movies and TV shows, but I want to talk about music, video games and other things that I like.

Those are my resolutions of 2018. What are your resolutions for 2018? Let me know in the comments below.
